I had a great experience practicing to drive with my driving instructor Janaid, he was very helpful and made sure I understudy my faults so I was able to properly correct them and build good habits in time for my test. I passed and I am very grateful for his support.

Waqar is a legendary-level driving instructor 🏆. I started driving with him in November 2025. I was initially nervous before the first lesson as I hadn't driven in two years. However Waqar was super friendly and his clear instructions helped me gain my confidence back. Every lesson thereafter was smooth, I quickly gained the experience and confidence needed and by feb/march 2026 I felt fully ready. I secured a test date for June 2026 and passed my test first try! I really really recommend Waqar. In addition to being a great instructor, he is very fun to talk to and has a very kind heart. You'll always leave the lesson with a smile!

Passing my driving test in 1st attempt would not have been possible without such an amazing instructor. From the very first lesson, WAQAR is professional, friendly, and incredibly supportive. His calm approach and excellent teaching style made learning to drive much less stressful and much more enjoyable. He took the time to explain mistakes constructively and helped me improve with every lesson. Most importantly, he gave me the confidence I needed to succeed. Thank you for all your hard work and encouragement—I highly recommend your lessons to anyone preparing for their driving test.

Just passed my test on automatic and I owe it all to Junaid! He’s such a legend—super chill, patient, and made the whole process way less stressful. He knows all the ‘Morden’ test routes inside out and really helped me nail the tricky parts. If you're looking for an instructor who’s easy to get along with and gets results, Junaid is your guy. Thanks again!

Driving Lessons in Wimbledon: Course Options

Kudos Driving School offers a full range of driving courses in Wimbledon, structured for different skill levels, licence goals and learning styles from complete beginners to drivers refreshing their skills after a break.

Automatic Driving Lessons

Automatic driving lessons remove the need to manage gears and clutch control, allowing learners to focus on observation, hazard awareness and road positioning. This option suits nervous drivers and beginners adjusting to Wimbledon's town-centre traffic and tram crossings.

Intensive Driving Course

The intensive driving course condenses tuition into concentrated sessions on local Wimbledon routes, suited to learners with prior experience or a fixed test date at Morden Test Centre. This course is delivered in the same dual-control vehicle used throughout training.

Manual Driving Lessons

Manual driving lessons build clutch control, gear changes and full vehicle coordination, giving learners a licence valid for both manual and automatic vehicles. Lessons progress from quiet SW19 residential streets to the busier A219 through Wimbledon Hill Road and Merton Road.

Refresher Driving Lessons

Refresher driving lessons are designed for qualified drivers rebuilding confidence after a break, relocating to Wimbledon, or transferring from an international driving licence. Each session begins with an assessment, followed by targeted instruction on the areas of greatest benefit.

Pass Plus Course

The Pass Plus course extends the skills of newly qualified drivers into more demanding driving conditions, including night driving, dual carriageways and adverse weather. Completion may also help reduce insurance premiums for new drivers.

Nervous Driver Lessons

Nervous driver lessons are paced to the individual learner, prioritising reassurance, repetition and steady progress over speed of learning. A patient, DVSA-approved instructor supports each stage of development.

Your instructor gauges your level. Complete beginners start with basic controls and road awareness.

STEP 3

Structured Plan

Moving off, steering, clutch and gears, mirrors, junctions, roundabouts, manoeuvres, independent driving and hazard perception.

STEP 4

Real Wimbledon Roads

As you improve, your instructor introduces Wimbledon Hill Road, the busy A219, Tibbet's Corner roundabout, and navigating Raynes Park and Wimbledon Common routes.

STEP 5

Test Preparation

Mock tests, show-me/tell-me questions, manoeuvres and practice on test routes around local test centres like Mitcham and Morden.

Test routes can change, so your instructor prepares you for the road layouts examiners use rather than one exact route.

Morden (London) Test Centre records a pass rate of approximately 49%, broadly in line with the national average. Common causes of test failure include the A24 dual carriageway, the roundabout near St Helier, and busy one-way sections around Morden town centre. Instructors who regularly train Wimbledon learners on this specific route provide a measurable advantage. Booking early is advisable, as waiting times for a test slot can extend to several months.

For most complete beginners, 20 hours is not sufficient on its own. DVSA guidance indicates that the average learner requires around 45 hours of professional instruction plus 22 hours of private practice. Wimbledon learners typically test at Morden Test Centre, which has a pass rate of approximately 49%, close to the national average. Key challenges include the A24 through Morden, the roundabout near St Helier, and busy stretches of the A219 through Wimbledon Hill Road and Merton Road on the approach to the test centre. Familiarity with these specific routes, built up during lessons, is a significant factor in test-day performance.

Many learners pass within three months. Two hours of lessons per week builds towards the DVSA-recommended 45 hours over several months, while an intensive driving course in Wimbledon can achieve test readiness within one to two weeks. Current test-slot waiting times should be factored into planning, so early booking is recommended once a learner is approaching test-ready standard.

Female driving instructors are available in Wimbledon, subject to availability. Many learners, particularly nervous or first-time drivers, prefer a female instructor. This preference can be specified at the time of booking.

Nervous drivers are supported through a paced, patient approach built around repetition and steady progress. Many learners in Wimbledon begin lessons with limited confidence and go on to pass with a calm, structured, DVSA-approved instructor.
